The World Touring Car Championship headed to the legendary Nordschliefe at the weekend and Tom picked up a double podium with 2nd and 3rd overall and 2 wins in the WTCC Trophy.

In the opening race, starting from P5, Tom was up to 4th by the end of the 25km first lap and his strong progress continued as he attacked current World Champion Pechito Lopez before the leaders crashed on the final lap allowing Tom to power through into second to take top spot in the WTCC Trophy for independent drivers.

In the main race Chilton enjoyed a perfect start to race into third place after the first corner where he stayed until the chequered flag to clinch his second podium of the weekend.

Commenting after the race, Chilton spoke of his joy with his best result of the year so far.

"I don't think I could be happier than I am today. If I'm referring to Sabine Schitz, named "Queen Ring", I feel like "King Ring".  Just to get a double podium was amazing, because I can't remember the last time it happened, even just one in a main race. It's such a good feeling and it's good to earn such good results on a circuit like this.  With the crash of Tiago and Yvan, I can't like the way I got the first podium, but as soon as I found out that they were ok, and having finished just a few tenths behind Lopez, I have to say I was happy.  It's good for me, it's good for the team and it's good for the Championship, both overall and the WTCC Trophy. It took me quite some time to understand how to drive the Citroen and I think driving on the Nordschleife was like a test".

The next round heads to Russia on the 10th - 12th June.
